Paper clips?!

Paper clips are one of those simple “genius“ inventions. I’ve been fascinated by them for some time. They are simple, but so needed and enduring. I hope that whoever invented them left their family a fortune that "keeps on giving". The problem with paper clips is that they get so tangled up!

Freedom!!!!!

I was at work by the fax machine one day this week. It just so happened I needed to use one of the paper clips In the container that we keep there. I do this daily, no new occurrence here. But, The Holy Spirit is so funny sometimes! He dropped a relationship lesson on me right at that moment. Those are what I call nuggets, hence the name of my blog. 😊

Most, likely 80%, of the paper clips are tangled up at any given time. We all know this. So I stood there looking for a free paper clip. Now when choosing a paper clip I go for the loose ones first, less time wasted to just grab and go. Sometimes I will even choose a smaller size than what I prefer if it’s the one that’s free. Next, if there are none free, I go for the least entangled causing the least amount of time and effort lost to accomplish my task. Only as a last resort do I stand there and bother with a wound up pile of craziness!

We are paper clips! Yes, WE are. When someone is looking for a relationship, a real lasting relationship, they will go for the free one first. The one that isn’t tied to old messes, entangled in bitterness, sin, fear, regret, etc. If its just the one they need or the one they find first, and not too tangled, they will take a brief amount of time to free it up. The ones that are hopelessly tangled, are left for last.

God went on this evening to expound even further....we are first choice by Him when we are free and ready to be used.

So, which paper clip do you want to be?

The one that won’t let go of where you have been and is unable to be used? Or do you want to be the one that is free and ready for who, what, and where God has for you?
